Jean-Michel Gerin's 2009 Côte-Rôtie Les Grandes Places is an expressive and elegant red wine from the Côte-Rôtie appellation in the northern Rhône Valley. Made mainly from the Syrah grape variety, this wine displays a deep ruby red color and presents a complex nose of black fruits, spices, pepper and liquorice. On the palate, it is elegant, with fine tannins and a nice acidity that bring a welcome freshness. The finish is long and aromatic, with a slight note of liquorice on the retro-olfaction.
